Daily heal ups with non-combat scenes

So, in 4e, there were skill challenges, where you had to do a certain amount of rolls to finish the challenge, and that would give you XP.

How do non-combat encounters factor into 13th Age's leveling guidelines?

  • It seems like most of the leveling is deliberately left open, with the assumption that a group that had fun and made some progress gets an incremental advance after each session. That lets players update the sheet each time and keeps it simple.

    With that in mind, there's no reason you need any combat at all in a session for it to count. Some groups would hate this, and some would consider it an awesome roleplaying-rich night. It's all about what works for your group.
